ACLU OF PA DROPS SUPPORT FOR HOUSE PROBATION REFORM BILL
In response to a vote today in the state House Judiciary Committee, the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania announced that it has dropped its support for legislation to reform the commonwealth’s probation system.
On December 14, 2015, the ACLU of Pennsylvania released a report analyzing civil asset forfeiture practices in Cumberland County that showed law enforcement has kept large amounts of forfeited equipment–even three gaming systems and four video games–for its own internal use, on the grounds that the property purportedly aids drug enforcement efforts.
