The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a 17-year-old gifted high school student who was suspended from school and forced to attend an alternative program instead of his regular academically-enriched classes after he posted a parody profile of his principal on the Internet. The suit charges that the Hermitage School District violates the student’s First Amendment free speech rights and seeks his immediate reinstatement to his regular classes.
