Ricardo Almodovar joined the ACLU of Pennsylvania in May 2024. Ricardo is a strong community organizer and social justice activist with a demonstrated history in civic engagement, public policy, and government relations focused on language access, voting rights, and environmental justice. He has previously worked for Make the Road PA, CASA PA, PA Budget and Policy Center, Campus Vote Project of the Fair Elections Center, and the Commonwealth's Department of Environmental Protection. He currently serves on boards for both the Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition and Keystone Business Alliance, central PA’s LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. In 2021, he was appointed to serve on the Pennsylvania Commission on LGBTQ+ Affairs, the first of its kind in the country that serves as an intermediary between the LGBTQ+ community and state government.
He earned an Associate degree in Social Science in May of 2013 from Harrisburg Area Community College and continued to earn a Bachelor degree in Spanish Language and International Studies with a minor in Psychology from Millersville University (MU) in 2016. Following six years of professional experience, he returned to MU to pursue a Master of Social Work degree. Ricardo resides with his partner and enjoys taking long walks with his 3-year-old Boston Terrier and much shorter strolls with his 13-year-old Maltese. (Berks and Lancaster County)
