HARRISBURG - The ACLU of Pennsylvania criticized anti-abortion legislation, HB 1948, that passed the state House of Representatives today. HB 1948 would ban abortion after 20 weeks and ban one of the most common methods of second trimester abortion. The bill now heads to the Senate for its consideration.

The following statement can be attributed to Reggie Shuford, executive director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania:

“House Bill 1948 is one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country. Rather than getting to work on our state budget, House members are wasting their time interfering with women’s personal health care decisions and doctors’ medical practice. It’s time for politicians to get out of the exam room and leave personal medical decisions to women and their doctors.”
